Shipping Larger Parts ?
I have a few larger type parts that are for sale but being as how this town only has a UPS drop off and the US Post Office I have not posted them on the parts board. Would like to sell a core support for a 71 2wd Chevy and a front bumper from same. Have an interested party on the bumper but it is to large for UPS to take it. Or so the lady at the counter told me. How does everyone else ship these larger parts? Also no bus line in this town, small town America does have advantages and dis-advantages. Do I need to go to Wichita and check into truck freight style shipping? That can get cost prohibitive on some parts I would think for the potential buyer. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ironhorse

Greyhound is a cheap way to ship oversized parts. You might find out where the nearest terminal is. The downside is that the person receiving the parts will have to pick them up at their nearest terminal. My parents shipped me a large dresser from Coos Bay, OR to Everett, WA for under $40. The moving company wanted $300 and the freight company wanted $89.

Fed-Ex is cheaper to ship large items with than UPS or USPS. I had my 21" computer monitor go bad under warranty. I had to pay for shipping to send it back to the manufacturer. It weighted 90 lbs - USPS won't go over 70lbs, UPS wanted $50 and Fed-Ex shipped it for $36. Check Fed-Ex's website here: Fed-Ex
It will show you what it will cost. You can even schedule them to come to your door to pick it up. Also, I checked and put the dimensions for a '72 bumper in their rate calculator and it showed they would take it. Roberty

Be careful with fedex ground. They have completely lost or severely damaged several packages that were sent to me or I sent to others. If the package arrives damaged they'll deny the insurance claim becasue of "insufficient packaging". Theyve cost me upwards of a thousand dollars.

Fedex is not good for insurance.
Dealing I had was their drivers are responsible for the packages. If you have a problem, you deal with the driver. I ordered a laptop computer battery, and had to file a claim on it. Never paid off, the company I ordered it from ended up sending me another at their cost to keep good repore with customers. Fedex just kept giving me the runaround....
