explorer sport trac hood hinges

has anyone (with air ride) needing a cowl mount hood hinge tried to convert these, i was selling a ford explorer sport trac , showing the customer the engine compartment when i started looking at the hood hinges, the buckets bolt into the firewall they have a strut mounted on them, i will bring my camera to work tomorrow and download some pics, i ordered a set from ford about 90 bucks my cost , going to look at them and see what i think they said i can send them back if i dont want them

wow, after finding a pic of these, they look to be almost a 'bolt' on match if you use the right side (of the sport trac) as the left side of the truck....def. looks promiseing..good eye

Size: 69.0 KB[/ATTACH] i'm glad i ran across this post just in case i need to move my hinges for clearance. my Dad has 2 dead Explorers at his place. (a 95 and a 2002) and both of these body styles have a similar type of hinge. the later model one looks to have a better hinge, but both will probably work for a conversion. The attached pics are of 95-01 body style (pic 2), and the 02-05 (pic 1). the 95-01 uses a prop rod, and the 02-05 have gas-charged shocks.

oh yea, not just sport tracs but explorers too. there are more of them in the junkyards ta boot.
