Re: Help a girl out
Shifting gears while her toe nails were tuning the carburator of course!! Sorry had to!! Welcome From TN. I hope you dont find us too offensive!!! Were actually a great group. If you post some pics it would be alot easier for us to help on this kind of thing. This way we can see what and where its actually broke then we can suggest a way to fix it. I sure someone on here will have an ingenious idea of something easy to do to fix it if its possible. Good Luck and Nice Name!!

A friend of mine that lived across the street from me had a '63 Nova 3 on the tree in high school. One Saturday morning, I hear him back out of the driveway, grind it into first (no synchro) and start up the street... the clutch goes in, I hear a clunk as he's going for 2nd gear, then revving of the engine, but he's not moving... Next thing, he's coasting backward back to his house. I came out to see what happened, he got out of the car, SLAMMED the door, and he handed me the shift lever!! I almost lost bodily control from laughing so hard... Good times! Good luck to you!!! |

Re: Help a girl out
Depending on where it broke off at, I had one break once and used a vise-grip temporarily (actually for a few months) as a replacement until I could get it replaced. It is a little unwieldy, but it works.

Re: Help a girl out
One cold morning I let my truck warm up in neutral and when I went to put it in reverse...puuuullllll-SNAP! Broke the ball stud off inside the column. Gunked-up bad. A non-tilt auto shifter is interchangable but the root cause may still need to be addressed.
