another problem

Problems one after another

I never put exhaust on because the paint guy (that did not finish the job on my truck) wanted me to leave them off. So I never heard the truck run except without pipes so that is why I have this question today.

I replaced my old exhaust manifold with new after market one and they have two holes in the middle (see picture) that I did not notice but they go all the way though. I had new exhaust put on today and they are leaking greatly. They do not go into my head so I need to plug them but I am not sure with what. Is this normal or what? I was wondering if they sell plugs for this type of problem or if a certain bolt is necessary with using lock tight would do.

One thing after another I wonder if I will ever get this truck on the road!

Re: another problem

Those just look like smog port holes.

I plug em with flush pipe plugs that have an allen head.
I've never had to use locktite, just some anti seize and all was good.

Re: another problem

Yep, agree completely. They're smog tube holes. Just run pipe plugs with anti-seize and you'll be good to go.

Re: another problem

I would run pipe plugs, look nicer than other types of plugs and will fit flush.

I think they take a 3/8" pipe plug.

Thumbs up Re: another problem

I got the plugs at my country Ace Hardware store and they are all plugged. I found out the holes are for the factory air emissions tubes. You would think they would plug them before the mail them out. Anyway I have it the manifold plugged and my new exhaust sound pretty good.
