Re: how to do a burnout?
No, epic fail! - I think I'm going to switch to a solid flat tappet cam. Gearing is a big problem, but I don't want to buzz down the highway at 5000 RPM. That and winter is upon us, so I need a project to last me a few weeks.

I FEEL VIOLATED NOW! All I was handed was a broom and shovel as my buddy says "Dooooode, that was bad ass, but you better sweep up your new tire before the boss man gets back". |

It wears out your brake shoes And if you have an open rear end, you will wear it out pre-maturely, or sling the spider gears out of it if you spin one tire too fast You can over rev your engine if you dont have a tach or are not paying attention And last but not least, its addicting & you tend to use tires up faster than normal No, its not the best thing, but its fun Last edited by Spray-Bomb; 10-14-2009 at 10:31 PM. |

Re: how to do a burnout?
tip number 7
buy several sets of ugly rear rims, that way you can buy all the $10 tires you can get your hands on and keep frying them off without wasting good ones. |

Re: how to do a burnout?
Drift backwards down a hill and, when you`re rolling real good, slam it into "L" while you stomp it! If it doesn`t do a burnout just shoot it.

Re: how to do a burnout?
I've read through most of these post and don't think I have heard this one being posted. This was me when I was 16 back in '84. I must say that a '69 Chevelle is not a bad car for your 16th birthday. The way you do a burnout is to get your friend to lift up on the back right corner of your bumper. While the tire starts to slowly turn, he needs to run back up and resume the roll of pitures taker. One of the greatest motor ever built was the GM 307!!!!!! 78 BHP and about 62 Ft lbs of torque!!!!! LMAO

Re: how to do a burnout?
the 82 4 cylinder firebird came with 197/70R14 inch tires... I was able to do brake stands all day long on ours. It may only have 90 horses, but it has 4.11 gears and a one wheel drive diff.
Embarassing when you pop the hood huh? My dad had one when I was in high school |
