what is this blazer worth?

Not sure if im posting this in the correct place, but here it goes.

1972 K/5 Blazer, 4x4, stock 350, auto (used transmission), NOT a CST and doesn't have A/C, orange in color with black front in back seats (driver seat is torn up), double wall top in decent shape, runs, inspected in VA, fairly bad rust above rear fenders and on lower doors, and a little on rear part of the bed , tires have good tread, all glass is in good shape. Thats about all i can think of.

The truck also has the original spare tire behind rear seat.

Thanks in advance.

Re: what is this blazer worth?

It's all about the tub condition, the rest is easy bolt-on stuff.

If you do body work, your ahead of the game already but if you would be paying for it, consider that in the price too.

Wondering...

Is that your blazer showing in your avatar?

If so, what's the orange one for?

Re: what is this blazer worth?

As a general rule, what ever rust is visible, just is much isn't visible. Pop the top and see how much rust is on the windshield frame.

Pics would help, but I'd guess in around $2,000-3,000 assuming the rust is as minimal as you described.

That was mine....i don't know if you guys remember but i was the kid who bought that one off of ebay and the guy lied about the actual milage and rust...anyway i sold that one not too long ago and want another to mess around with. I just didn't want to waste my money on something not worth what he is asking for it.

How are the floors in the driver and passenger areas and the torsion boxes?

He ripped out the carpet upfront and all of the floors looked good, even the inner, i guess "rocker panels" (where you step in at) didn't have hardly any rust. and are the torsion boxes the boxes underneath the doors? if so those are all rusted out.

Re: what is this blazer worth?

To be honest, those pics show, ...well basically nothing to give us an idea as to the real value, they all look good from 20ft.

To make a decent assessment you need close ups of the trouble areas but if your telling us the torsion boxes are toast, your getting up there for rust repairs to get it done right.

How about the firewall/cowl area?

Check behind the brake booster and over on the pass. side above the blower motor area.

Re: what is this blazer worth?

It would probably go for $3,000-4,000 around here. Possibly a little lower given the economy...

Re: what is this blazer worth?

Hmmm. Sure doesn't give me any warm, fuzzy feelings. Even at 20' I see more rust than I care too. If the t-boxs are toast I'm sure there are more problems. I think $1300-1500 sounds fair without seeing it in person, driving it or even hearing it run.

Re: what is this blazer worth?

I just looked at the pics on a monitor that shows more and noticed all the rust above the rear wheels. That's gonna drop my guesstimate considerably.

Re: what is this blazer worth?

If it runs and drives then it would be to me. I paid a bit more than half of that for mine that needed a lot of work just to get to "weekend beater" status. Mine had solid rocker boxes though.

That looks like a nice project to start with...If he is your buddy then tell him you have $1700 you can help him out with. If he is in need of money I think he'll take it.

Re: what is this blazer worth?

You could part it out and make more than $2K. Offer lower and see what happens.

Re: what is this blazer worth?

Easy for me to say sitting at my keyboard, but I would not offer that. I would start at no more than 1500 and see where it goes. I would almost never just hand over what the asking price is. Very special circumstances aside, there should be room to negotiate so start lower than asking price.

Re: what is this blazer worth?

He didn't really have a price so i said i would probably give him around 1500, then he said if he was trying to sell it with ebay or craigslist he would try to get around $3,000 but didn't really want to have to go to the trouble. he said "that was worth something right there" (the hassle) so he said he would meet in the middle at $2,000 which seemed fair. so tomorrow when i go check it out again, i'll see what he says and keep everyone posted. thanks again, all you guys have been a lot of help.
