Timing question I think ?

When I turn my truck off it tries to start back up. Is this a timming problem or something else?

Sounds like your timing is too far advanced. Did it just start doing this or has it been going on for a while?

Re: Timming question I think ?

Same thing happened to me, my started soleniod stuck. Wouldn't stop cranking until the battery died. If it is continuously trying to start itself until the battery dies, I would say its the same prob I had. If it cranks once then dies or twice I would agree about the timing issue.

Are you meaning to say that when you shut your truck off it seem to continue to run? If so you need to check your timing. It's too far advanced like 85GMCGuy said. If you are saying that when you turn your key to the off position the starter engages then you have an ignition switch problem my friend.

Re: Timming question I think ?

Sounds to me like yer describing a situation like after you have driven for awhile then you pull up in yer driveway and shut the key off but the motor continues to run but like crap for a lil while..If that is what is happening it is called "dieseling" or engine run on..many different reasons for run on..I would check all the basics first..timing, idle, airfuel, carburetor adjustments(throttle linkage closing all the way) etc....Then check cap, rotor, wires, plugs and replace as necessary..Basically a tune up if needed..Afetr all the checking you will prolly find the culprit.
