Re: Need lowering help/front coil springs
start with a full coil, but remember you still have to lower the back.

Re: Need lowering help/front coil springs
I just did that the other day i cut 2 full coils off (but the truck is not drove but maybe 1 or 2 day out of the week) if it is nice it dropped it so low that the bump stops had to come off and the shocks had to relocated. If i was going to do it all over i would not go more than 1 1/2 coils so you can keep the shocks
and use the jeep tj spring in the back |

Re: Need lowering help/front coil springs
i think mr mike thinks you have a pre 72 with coil spring rear suspension.
the rear you can use 3in axle perches and make your own flip kit. you will have to do some welding though. it might be ez'r to buy a cheap flip from ebay. you can use shocks from a 66 corvette on the front. Last edited by fiddy9apache; 10-22-2009 at 07:29 PM. |

As suggested you can get 1.5-2" drop by cutting a single coil off of the front. It's cheap and easy just keep it cool when you do it. For the rear, the cheapest route is removing the bottom "overload" leaf for 3/4-1" drop. You can take a couple more out but it will soften your ride quit a bit. Spend a few bucks and buy a shackle kit instead.

Re: Need lowering help/front coil springs
Removing too many leaves can also get you into axle wrap problems too, especially if you drive it hard.
