counting splines
i have an old ford 9 inch rear end and the splines dont seem to fit the diameter of the axle wont even fit so i know the axles arent the right one but when i go to order new ones how do i tell how many splines the gears are for the new axles is it as simple as literaly just counting? thanks in advance.

that's what you do // fords are mostly 29 or 31 splines

thanks so much for the quick response i thought so but i wondered if it was too easy haha. i think someone threw in chevy axles when they were throwing all the parts together. the rear end wasnt together when i got it.
