Re: lowering limits 73-87
it's definately possible but it's definately going to compromise your ride quality and ground clearance.

Re: lowering limits 73-87
Welcome to the board!
Glad to see new members. Suspension-wise,... that's as low as I would go up front. Now you have to worry about the front tires rubbing on the inner fenders and the a-arms dragging on "high spots" in the road. Now,... how about some pics of your truck? We love pics,...

Re: lowering limits 73-87
Welcome aboard! I am dropped like you are wanting to do. You will want to use drop springs. The stock springs will not be good cut down that much. Your clearance will change depending on your tires. I have about enough room to clear a crushed pop can. But I do drag my control arms and occasionally my cross member on the right bump or freeway expansion joints.
BTW: The ! to the left is to report a post. If it is against forum regs you can report it to the staff.

Re: lowering limits 73-87
Mine is dropped 6" in the front... I wouldn't recommend it if it's a daily driver.

Re: lowering limits 73-87
Yes, but it opens up another can of worms. Have you considered air suspension? You can have the best of both worlds.

Re: lowering limits 73-87
I would think if you have enough mechanical skills to do the LS transplant, you wouldn't have any problem with adding air suspension. Just remember, you were "clueless" before you started the research on your LS swap.
Many of the "hard parts" involved in air suspension will be the same as a static drop. Most trucks run dropped spindles, and air bags rather than springs. In the rear a simple "Air over Leaf" system will work with your standard flip kit. Many of the components can be bought very reasonable priced. The place were you should spend money is your management system. The cost of quality valves are what really drive the price up. I suggest you spend some quality time reading in our suspension forum. That should bring you up to speed rather quickly...
