Just thought I'd send a "thankyou" to my truck....
I just went and picked up my first real load of firewood for the winter. I stacked about 2000 pounds of split oak in the bed and drove it over a 1200 foot mountain pass this afternoon and it didn't even break a sweat.

Not surprised a bit. Have hauled 40 50lb. sacks of pellet stove pellets in my C-10 several times. Have to watch the braking distances though.

it'll take more than that to kill our trucks. I have had a documented 5640 pounds worth of cast iron in mine. I have also pulled about 10,000 pounds of load back from DesMoines IA, in the winter. but then again you had firewood. that stuff takes up a lot of room.

The most I've ever loaded in my truck was 2 'cubes' of paving bricks!!! IT was a slow drive home to say the least. but closer to what you did, after the hurricanes in '05 I made multiple trips(about 15 miles each way) hauling Australian pine logs to a buddy's place for firewood(not for heating- for bonfires for parties) It's been a while, but iirc there were 8-12 logs about 6'-8' long and 12"-20" in diameter... my buddy had the fun job of cutting them into manageable pieces, I was just the transportation. That wood lasted for 3 years worth of bonfires on a regular basis! OLD Trucks Rule!

Right as I started unloading this morning...
It's squating by about 5-6 inches. |
