Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
I just wanted to share a couple of photos from a recent elk hunt with my good friend and his boys. I also wanted to see if anyone has hunting photos to share. In my opinion, there is no better way to use a classic pickup than to hunt with it.
The truck is a '71 K20 that Murphy IRE just recently purchased. Murphy can fill us in on the trucks details. Here is Murphy's profile: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/member.php?u=71043 This was the first year for Murphy and his boys to big game hunt together. As you can imagine, planning a Colorado big game hunt in November can be a challenge and expensive. The pickup has been named "Gertie". She handled the ~ 600 mile round trip without any problems. Last night a large storm moved into the area. Murphy and I were at the top of a Colorado volcanic peak with high plasticity clay. A little snow and rain turned the clay into an ice rink. The steep grade down the mountain was a real puckering moment. Gertie handled the situation without any hangups and we got back to camp in time for dinner. I wish I had a photo of a dead elk to share. The weather this year really screwed up the Elk migration cycle. From what we can tell, the success rate on the western slope of Colorado was way down. Please feel free to share any photos you have of a classic Chevrolet used to hunt.

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
What are those long wooden things you are holding? We got drawn this year for New Mexico Elk but we hunt with bows. My dad got a 5 x 5 but I didn't have the same luck. We were not in near that cool of a truck though. Beautiful pics you got there with the mountains in the background.

The above picture made me laugh, because I remember my Grandfather used to wear a shirt that said, "It takes lead balls to shoot a muzzleloader." Cool pics.

Sorry to say this is not a picture of me hunting, but I thought I would share it.
Some one on here posted it a while ago and it is really a cool photo. Danny

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
Funny, my Dad was always the one to do the over the hood shooting. I hated it, since the truck was bigger than me and had to stand on a rock or something.
Ever since I got into the BP shooting, and after that trip where I am shooting my 50 cal BP rifle over the hood. He didn't think it was needed anymore to use the hood of the truck as a rest, since the BP rifle actually left muzzle blast scars on the paint. Actually burned the paint off, but everyone thought it was just "patina".. LOL. Dad and I knew better though.

Some more photos that I was able to locate on the internet. While they don't show a classic in hunting action, I like them and wanted to share.

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
I never take my baby out hunting. Most of the tracks are built for little old landrovers and toyotas and no matter how much we breath in we just don't fit without rearranging some trees.
The hound and I spend most of our hunting time on a quad.
