is this a weld on or bolt on piece?
I need to repair or replace this. I dont want to patch as much as possible.

It welds on. I think there are a series of spot welds around it that have to be drilled out to do it exactly right.

Yes it welds on ..They were spot welded at factory so you will have to Plug weld the part to get it close to factory. Unless you want to invest in the equip to do it like the factory.
My nephew is in 1'st cav over their in Irag. He's from Las Vegas. Supposed to be back next month to FT Hood. Good Luck I guess you could bolt it on if you wanted to.
