Compressor + Horn Kit
Hi, my truck is a '78, so I'm a little young to be in this forum, but I figured the activity level here would help me get a good answer to this question-
Basically, I'd just like for someone to post a good way for me to have a loud horn underneath my truck. I know I need a compressor, air lines, a horn, a switch, and wiring. I know that this can all be purchased as one kit, but are there any available that are top quality? I'm looking for quality over economy here. I want a good compressor that re-loads fast and quiet, and has enough blow power to make the horn loud as hell. As for the horn, I want a quick, startling-ly loud jolt of horn sound, not a long, drawn out train bellow. I don't want it to be too high-pitched though. Please post if you have knowledge in these matters. |

Re: Compressor + Horn Kit
easy way for loud is to get some 6v trumpet horns from a buick or caddy and hook up in place of the originals

Re: Compressor + Horn Kit
My best buddy and I wired one from a kit into his 66 Mustang but it was so freakin loud he could never really use it. Evertime he used it, all traffic would stop and the elderly drivers would almost have a heart attack. Did not really serve its purpose well. IMHO, stick with the oem horn that everyone recognizes as a car/truck horn, rather than an air raid siren.

Re: Compressor + Horn Kit
Yeah, can anyone identify the actual horn/compressor/kit used in this video? I want one just like that.

Re: Compressor + Horn Kit
Yea I watched that video. Real funny until a cop hears it. In my younger days I had a 64 MGB roadster and I put Fiamm brand air horns in it. It had three red horns and you could vaporize a Volkswagen at 50 yards.
