That is amazing! I have the same idea for the diamond plate doors and dash pieces.

He is a "neighbor" of mine as well and perhaps when he gets this thing finished he can bring it to the OKC meet.

I've always dreamed of a tow rig with a 4-53T and a Road Ranger 10 speed. Something about the 2 stroke scream and going through all the gears. These engines are just not cheap, unless you can find an old medium duty truck with one to rob it from.

Don't know how I missed this originally, but I'm bringing it back to answer the replies. And yes I'm on here and also the pontiac forum too. Anyway, here's how it sits now.



Got sidelined a bit with the build. Right after I pulled the old drivetrain out and sold it, the wife found out she was pregnant with these guys.



So basically these little guys have been the priority. I am just now starting to get back onto it on a regular basis.

It's true that those other detroits would physically fit better, but I ended up running across the aluminum 4-71 and decided to build it. It's lighter than all those listed.

Wow... i guess that would be a step up from this hot dry place. Definitely gonna try and keep up with this build.... would have been killer to take a ride in it. Good luck with the move and all.

Gotta say.... Im way impressed with the inginuity, ideas, and execution. in fact the only thing that just doesnt twist my nipple with excitment is the exhaust through the hood. I would have taken it out the side in front of the fender with a 5" diameter angle cut polished stainless pipe....

a) Which Pontiac board are you on? ....I'm sort of a Pontiac fan as well (spent some time over at PeformanceYears.com)

b) Forgive me if I missed it, but what do you plan to tow with this thing?

c) What are you flying these days? My son is a pilot, and just got relocated from Palm Springs to Fresno (US Air).

d) Congrats on the little ones. Twins, here, too (girls) - who will unbelievably be 13 tomorrow.

The exhaust through the hood is just temporary. It's 5" off the turbo. The stack tapers out to 6".



I like the look of the front stack, but I don't want to lose any utility with this truck and I can't have exhaust soot cover anything that I throw in the bed. Eventually, I'm going to do a full exhaust 5" off the turbo, 6" down and 7" under the truck and out the back. That's the plan anyway.

I'm on the PerformanceYears.com forum as well with the same user name. I actually just sold my GTO though.



I've been wrenching on my truck and my Harley. My GTO was my daily driver which took a lot of my free time keeping it going. It wasn't really my dream car, so I ended up getting rid of it. Now, I'm just focusing on getting my truck done and I'm on the look out for my dream engine...



I plan on building a convertible 30's fenderless hot rod with it. That's my ultimate dream car.

Anything I want. Seriously, it's nice to have a truck that will pull a bunch of things, especially during a military PCS. The Air Force only allows so much weight of household goods based on rank and dependents. Unfortunately, I'm about 10K lbs too heavy with my tools. If I would have the military move me, I would have had to pay them money to be relocated. This is how I moved all my stuff this last time.



Next time, I plan on pulling a goose neck holding everything with my truck.

Thanks! Same to you. It's amazing having these little guys. It was a total surprise to the wife and I to even find out she was pregnant. Now, I don't know what I would do with these little mini-mes running around. I can't wait until they're old enough to help me wrench on stuff in the garage.

Good eye! Yeah, I had an accident with her when I was 18/19 years old. A lady pulled out in front of me and it was wet. I couldn't stop in time. Smashed the endura front end and pass side fender. The car I found the parts from was a 69. I eventually swapped the correct year grilles in right before I sold her.

Cool, still love the truck! I sold my 77 Can Am also. No Pontiac for now, but did buy back my 68 Camaro RS/SS! I just moved also, I had the cab on my 85 ready to pull and I bid on a job 600 miles away. I got it, and had the throw the 85 back together for the move. Now I don't have a shop anymore.....Till we buy another house. The plan is a BIGGER shop next time PS I work on airplanes for FEDEX. I love the pics of the T6
