GM Inner Grille Part # GM part # is 3985056

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-...Q5fAccessories

Ok ... since no one has bid on this Grille I think I will but to me it looks like a 69 Grille verses a 70... Can someone verify of this is a 69 or 70 inner grille. GM part number is ... 3985056
Thanks in advance.

Why don't you ask the ebay seller to please verify by getting the part number off of it. I did not see it on the item description (could have over-looked it).

Thats a very good price for that item, so I would be questioning if it was the right part like you are doing, only do it towards the seller.

Just my advise.

Good luck.

Re: GM Inner Grille Part # GM part # is 3985056

There is so little difference between the 69 n 70. Plus end of year 69's some had 70's. Plus very, very few could tell anyway. I'd say try to score it for a reasonable price.

70cst ... Let us know what year this turns out to be. I'm needing a good '69 grille as mine has the '70 grille in it...

Re: GM Inner Grille Part # GM part # is 3985056

"Looks-wise" it's a 69, but I've read from a few people on here that GM got "cheap" (surprising, huh?) and after whatever number of years they quit offering the "proper" grill insert, and just sold the 69 as a 70. The seller is probably correct that it's a NOS 70, but it's still "wrong."

That seems cheap to me (assuming you haven't ruined it and now will be outbid by another board member ) but it seems cheap enough that I would buy it and use it to bargain someone for a nice 70 grill

On a 70 grill you can see the "recessed" area. The 69 grill has the full "eggcrate" look, which is what the ebay one looks like.

Hi, I have had three questions in regard to what year the insert is, therefore I ended the auction early so I can get all the correct info. I will more than likely relist on sunday afternoon. I have had the insert for years that I purchased from local GM dealer, have always thought it to be a 1970. I will get to the bottom before I list again. Keep watching for future listings. Thanks, Chris
He ended the action early because of questions to the year... Go figure?

You ever notice when you're going through the LMC Truck or Classic Parts catalogs that they list those inserts as "69-70"? Now I know that they are selling 69 grille inserts as 70's. And I bought one for my 70! I sure feel ripped off.

It is my understanding the 69 inner grilles are avaliable and the 70 inners are more scarce ...Then again I could be wrong.
