1972 Distributor - I need the correct one.

We have a 1972 C10 with original 402 and someone in the past put in an HEI distributor. We are trying to put this truck back to an original points type distributor. However, I can't find any source to determine what the correct number is for this year and engine combination.

It is a 1/2 ton C10 with 402 and automatic transmission. Can anyone point me to a source or tell me what the correct distributor is?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: 1972 Distributor - I need the correct one.

Are you looking for original with the tag on it or a rebuilt?

Cardone 381835 is for 71-72 402
The original part number is 1112064
I suspect that its the same as a 350 of that year with a different curve on the advance.

I'm hoping to find an original that I can rebuild. Are you pretty sure on this number being the correct one?

Parts Interchange show the same 1112064 id.
Usage, 1971-1972 C-10 - C30 Cheverolet and 1500 to 3500 GMC truck with 402ci V-8 - All Transmissions.

If you do this, buy a pertronix or crane ignition module to install inside, distributor will look stock but perform like a hei best of both worlds. I have done this to two and it works flawlessly.

Re: 1972 Distributor - I need the correct one.

Thanks everyone for the help. I would never have found that number.

If you know anyone that has this distributor, please let me know. I haven't found any for sale yet but I'm sure they are out there.

Re: 1972 Distributor - I need the correct one.

Maybe I can help you. I bought a 72 BB Burb a couple of months ago and it has a HEI in it. As I was leaving with the Burb the seller gave me a box of parts and there is a distributor in it. I never looked at the distributor assuming it was the original from the 402. Its -38C right now and the box is in my unheated garage. Tomorrow whe the sun is up and its a balmy -25C I'll get the disributor and post the numbers off it on this thread. If its what you need and you want it we'll figure something out.

Re: 1972 Distributor - I need the correct one.

I think you are in luck.. I wrote the numbers down off my old distributor and I got 1112064 and just to the right of those numbers it has 2A7.

I've attached some pics of the distributor.
