Chrome or Polished?
Well I've been looking at some wheels on the net and was looking at the coys
now i like the c-5 I'd like a 22'' wheels their just kinda out of my range. The polished wheels are bout 75 dollars cheaper than the chrome. What wheel do you like better the polished or chrome? Ive seen both types on the forum im just curious to see what you like.

i voted chrome because they are easy to maintain for a daily driven truck, you will be a slave to polished wheels.

Re: Chrome or Polished?
maybe I'll pony up the extra coin for the chrome then...or the grey centers look nice also...they have a polished lip...do they have clear coat over the lip or not...do they need to be polished or not is what I'm getting at

Re: Chrome or Polished?
I have chrome and polished on my trucks. I will never buy polished again. The chrome are definately easier to take care of, but I have heard horror stories of the chrome pealing off, but thats mostly from guys up north that have a lot of salt and chemicals on the roads in the winter. If the grey centers need to be polished on the rim only, then that wouldnt be to bad. I have polished Mickey Thompson Classic II's with beadlocks and they are a pain and take alot of time to polish. The Foose legends on the other truck are chrome and they are a peice of cake.

Re: Chrome or Polished?
Although I will agree that for a daily driven vehicle that chrome is the way to go, nothing beats the look of a polished billet wheel.

Re: Chrome or Polished?
I have had multiple set of polished billet wheels. Nothing beats their appearence. There is a reason that high end builders NEVER put chrome wheels on their hot rods, they just look cheap.
I also realize that Coys are not billet, they are a cast wheel, but the look is similar. Polished wheels do take a bit of work to maintain, but 20 years from now you can sand them down and repolish them and they look like new...think you can do the same with chrome? Re: Chrome or Polished?
I voted Chrome. They are the ones I'm looking at too. From what I have dealt with, and heard the chrome ones are so much easier to keep looking good. Not that it's hard to polish the wheels, but if you don't have to then....

Re: Chrome or Polished?
For a daily driven vehicle that sees all kinds of weather, polished wheels are a nightmare. You will never ever keep up on them, and the longer you let them go the more work it is to bring them back. For me it's chrome or painted only for DD's.
On a weekend toy that's fair weather only, polished wheels don't have much chance to oxidize and it's WAY easier to keep up. I polish the wheels on my camaro (weld pro stars) 2-3 times a year and they stay looking good for a long time.

Re: Chrome or Polished?
On a cast wheel i like a chrome finish since cast aluminum doesnt polish to the sheen of a billet wheel. The only problem is chrome plating over aluminum tends to have durability issues down the road, and when they do theres nothing you can do other than to have them rechromed (big $$$) or replace them.

You can also get the polished wheels clear coated in addition to the Zoops like coatings. It will hold up for a winter or two then need re-finished to keep them looking perfect up north. Somewhere nice it may last for quite a while. Up here most people with nice wheels swap them out for the stock wheels or cheaper wheels in the winter. The stuff on the roads during winter just wipe out chrome and aluminum wheels so fast. Polished is a pain to keep clean but I like the looks better than chrome.
