Re: someones trying to get me out of the square body club!
take the car and dump 20 large into it and you will have a nice thing going on......if ya dont have the 20k you just have a heap. hypothetically if both the truck and the goat were totally restored i'd go with the gto for sure.

Re: someones trying to get me out of the square body club!
Actually that isn't a GTO it's really a Le mans coupe. cuz 1972 was the year Pontiac reverted back to the GTO being an option not a separate model just like the very first year '64 GTO was an option package not it's own model.
Speaking for myself that car looks a little too far gone and i'd need to see a pic of your truck! but im thinkin' keep the truck. |

Re: someones trying to get me out of the square body club!
When i entered the first show with my own truck in 93 there was a guy that tried to sell his 66 mustang fastback in great shape and offered me a trade!
I just had the truck for half a year and the 5.7 old diesel was changed with a 6.2 l diesel and it ran like a truck should for just a week with too much money dumped in it! Guess what i said to that guy ----: Sorry i´m unsure about a trade,NO!! 16 years later and about 25-28.000 Euros spent to my truck i still shake my had about that missed trade because i see that mustang in allmost every show around here! The value of that things gone through the roof and it would have been nice to have one but i really got to love my truck over the years and every hour of wrenching gets me in deeper! Maybe someday i can afford a late model mustang that i can tow to shows!:0) Volker

As much as I am in love with my shortbed I would trade in an instant for that GTO.

Re: someones trying to get me out of the square body club!
yea, i love gtos and camaro, but there is alot of wrenchtime and money into my truck, and i dont want to start over again, so i am keeping the truck, it may not get a fancy paint job as i wanted, but i will have enough money to get the body straight, and get it all satin black, for now, i decided to purchase the camaro as he is only asking 2000, whats another small loan?

Re: someones trying to get me out of the square body club!
yea, everytime i see my truck outside i cant seem to go through with it! he even offered me 1000 and the car, but id rather have em bboth, got some pics today, its not pretty, but its not in as bad of shape ass most! all new front sheetmetal was in the shed, including grille lights and everything to put it back together, just need to pull the frame, motor and trans were rebuilt right before the wreck, only windshield is cracked, has very little rust on quarters, suprisingly, but i am super excited about it

Re: someones trying to get me out of the square body club!
Looks like a good project car. You might get lucky with the subframe just being pushed sideways in the mounts. There is nothing but some rubber holding the subframe in place relative to the body tub and a good smack could have twisted everything out of place.
Start with getting a set of interlocking aluminum solid body mount bushings and four 4" long 5/8" diameter bolts. The bolts will go through the factory alignment holes in the subframe and body to get you oriented properly for beginning any frame work or reassembly and the solid mounts will make a big difference in how the car handles in addition to replacing the 40 year old deteriorated and possibly damaged stock rubber parts.
