Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
LOL!!! Yup, his is running, and all the body work is done except for mounting the fenders. He is using all the suspension off of my doner dually, and he is a mastermind with the interior. Mine has a long way to go!!

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Is he using the 1/2 ton frame w/the 1-ton suspension stuff (albeit on air)?

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
he is using the rearend, a-arms, drop spindles, and springs off of the 1-ton. the frame is 1/2 ton! it is gonna be a very low static drop

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Ouch.... Tell him to re-think the static drop part. My short wide w/the HD 8-leaf springs is on the edge of ride quality (so much so that I eagerly await the swap to air). A swb dually would do better w/some bags in back.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Ok since we are kinda talking about it....What is the Frame difference between a crewcab single wheel c30 1ton suspension vs a c20 3/4t suspension. I'm looking to shorten the crewcab to make a 1/2t shortbed.
Thanks |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Nothing as far as I know. the SRW C-20 and C-30 frames are identical.
but the DRW rear spring hangers are different. On the DRW the springs are moved closer into the frame for tire/wheel clearance. If I remember correctly it is @ 3 inches overall.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
the single wheel one and 3/4 ton front suspention has a seperate hub and diskbrake the dually version is one piece
rearbrakes from a 3/4 and single wheel are different from the dually the rearplates and the brakeshoes are the hubs between the single and dually are different and there 2 sizes in the differentials theres a lot of info on these websites : http://www.chuckschevytruckpages.com/ http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billav...ble/index.html

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
I think Michael was mainly asking about the frames, not to speak for him, but I believe he is looking to build a 1/2 ton crew cab short bed.
Oops guess we posted at the same time. I just mainly want to get the info out there about the duallys having different hangers. I never knew that until I found out for myself the hard way
