is this possible on the 73-87 dash?

i was wondering if its possible to remove the speedo from the stock gauge pod and install it by itself on an aluminum sheet metal dash. or should i get a new one? i dont feel like paying upwards of $150 for a speedo when i have one that works just fine. thanks.

Theres really no way to mount the stock speedo on a sheet metal dash where it will look decent. its odd shaped and everything would be exposed

Yes you can. Only held in by a couple of bolts-the terminals have studs so you can add the wiring, and so as long as the gauge mounts behind the dash panel, it will look fine.
