72 Super Cheyenne Door Panels
I know I've asked this before, but is there a difference between 72 door panels from Super and non-Supers?
I'm looking at a couple of pairs. One has the chrome ring (no wood insert) and one has no ring at all. There is a significant price difference, but is there a difference in the actual panels? Thanks.

Re: 72 Super Cheyenne Door Panels
The only difference that I know of, is the super's had wood grain inserts with chrome ring and a scrolling ( looked kinda like tooled leather ) around the perimiter of the panel.

Re: 72 Super Cheyenne Door Panels
As long as the door panels have the chrome trim on them, there is no difference. Actually, if the plastic door panel themselves has the scroll work towards the top, they will be the same. The Cheyenne's and Super's all got the woodgrain door panel package. You can make any 72' original door panel work with the woodgrain by drilling holes for the chrome trim. Trevor

Re: 72 Super Cheyenne Door Panels
The woodgrain is hard to find in great shape. There is a big difference from Recovered woodgrain on them and original in color and pattern. This is probably why they are priced accordingly. Trevor

One set has the ring, one doesn't. But it sounds like I could drill the holes for the chrome ring? I'm replacing a set that were cut out for speakers. I have the original ring and woodgrain although the woodgrain needs to be restored.

Re: 72 Super Cheyenne Door Panels
Yes, you can make a non-deluxe (non-scroll) door panel from 72' work. I did it once on my old 72'. Take your woodgrain panel, lay it down on the door panel where it fits, take a marker and mark all of the triangle cut outs on the doors and drill holes in those spots. Make sure to drill the holes big enought for some room to manipulate the chrome trim pins to get through, and viola! You now have Cheyenne Super door panels. You could probably do this too if someone hated the scroll door panel look with a pair of non-scroll (non-deluxe) door panels with just the chrome trim to doll them up without using the woodgrain panels. It's not hard to do at all. Trevor
