Ride-Rite Air Spring Install
Well I installed the air springs on Saturday and had to wait till today to try them out (heavy rain all day yesterday). Cut a truck load of oak and poplar rounds and instead of the ass end draggin and the hood pointing to the heavens, all I had to do was air em' up and she rode level and smooth all the way home!
Nice Kit!! I have my 3/4 ton capacity back, and then some! If anybody is interested, I used the Ride-Rite #2264 kit because of my existing 4" lift and still had to fab up some 2" spacers under the bags. They don't affect the ride with the minimum 5 lbs of air, but when you hit them with 10 lbs it really makes a big difference in the cornering/handling and smoothes out the rear suspension. If anybody else installed the Tuff Country lifted leaf springs in their 67-72, and you are not happy with the light load capacity ... I highly recommend this Ride-Rite kit. BTW, I measured the WMS to WMS on my HO72 and its 65". I want to bring the rear width out to match the 8 lug Dana 44 up front. I think I might need 1.5" spacers/adapters back there? Right? 72longbed Last edited by 72longbed; 01-18-2010 at 08:21 PM. |
