Re: Bed floor swap 73-87 with67-72

My dad and I used an '82 chevy floor with my '70 bed. We just had to trim some of the edges and drill some new holes. We used the '82 inner fenders also. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

Re: Bed floor swap 73-87 with67-72

Hey thanks a lot dieselwrencher, took a lot of time getting there as most of you all know. Spent most of my summer with my cousin in Idaho repaiting it. Something I forgot to add was that there was about a half-inch gap between the innerfender and the bedside. My cousin and I just added some sheet metal, weld it all up and slapped a little bondo to smooth it out. If you look closely the body lines on the inside match up on the bedside and innerfender. Looks stock to the untrained eye.

Re: Bed floor swap 73-87 with67-72

After seeing this you have me thinking about taking some 73-87 floors and making one for my Longhorn. That does look really nice. Do you have any pics of the build?

Re: Bed floor swap 73-87 with67-72

nice looking floor, any more details on the installation? how did the floor crossbars workout? Do the bolt holes line up with the frame holes? Looks like it is bolted from underneath instead of from the top. This is probably how I will fix my wavy floor. thanks

Re: Bed floor swap 73-87 with67-72

I had a few on my phone but it broke so none. Really bumbed about that. Ya I drove it to my cousins in Idaho from our house in Cali, little over 800 miles hitting 3 grand the whole way. Little deaf for the next few days but it was great. My cousins do a lot of body and paint so I stayed with one of them for 6 weeks, tore it all down to bare metal and painted it right. In the pass years my dad and I worked on it, motor, transmission, rearend ect. before I turned 16. Drove it my junior year half green half rattle-can black. I'll post some more pictures of it tomorrow.

Re: Bed floor swap 73-87 with67-72

The front holes line up but the rear do not. We just made some brackets underneath to bolt the frame to the bed. You just have to get creative like a lot of problems that come up.
