use a 3/4 ton brake booster on a 1/2 ton?

I picked up a used power brake booster/master cylinder with a bracket from a friend. My question is can I use that set up on my 1/2 ton? If so do I just use my original proportioning valve from my non power system? The bracket will not awork with the 1/2 ton booster, the rod sticks out of the bracket too far.

thanks. I am searching for a 1/2 ton bracket. that would be easier then having to return my new already painted one to the store for a 3/4 ton one.
