LT1 Question
http://tulsa.craigslist.org/pts/1575884130.html
Question #1 Is this a good buy? #2 Can this engine be converted to carb. #3 Will this engine bolt up with standard motor mounts from the 70's style motor mounts? #4 Are there any other concerns that I might be looking at to make this conversion? Thanks guys. |

Yes #4 Are there any other concerns that I might be looking at to make this conversion? Yes, The front accessories are way different than a traditional small block. That turd of a alternator braket they got is for a older SBC and will not line up with the crank pulley. If you want a LT1/LT4 keep the injection. The optispark is not as bad as everyone says. In fact half are dianosed as bad but its just corrosion on the electrical plug on the distrbutor, when its changed the unplugging/plugging in of the connector cleans it enough to last another 6 months or so Last edited by clinebarger; 01-29-2010 at 08:51 PM. |

Re: LT1 Question
Why would you want to convert to carb? Kind of defeats the purpose of getting the LT1 to begin with. With the Opti Spark Distributor on these I wouldn't want to hassle with the carb conversion. You can't run standard SBC accessory drives with it. The only thing you would gain with swapping to carb would be the reverse cooling system. I paid $1300.00 for a wrecked 96 T/A with an LT1 and T-56 6 speed. Parted out the rest of the car and made most of my money back over time. I would pass on it myself.
