Anyone know of a company that makes a Custom steel hood. I would like to put hood on my truck that is styled after the early Chevelle SS hoods.

don't know about that hood..but a steel cowl hood just got posted on the parts board for 300.00

It looks like I can use a 66 scoop and just cut the holes in my current hood and mount them in there. If I go with the 67 I'll have to buy a 67 hood and cut out the scoops then mount those to my truck hood. I like the look of the 67 scoop alot better than the 66 the only problem is it will cost me more to get the 67 chevelle hood and inserts from Goodmark than it would just the 66 inserts. Plus I will be ruining the 67 hood in the process of taking the scoops so I can't resale it.

I dont know where ya been but hey if ya wanna post the pics of the hood of that sweet chevelle on the board, then ya better post pics of the whole car!!! lol that hood looks awesome!!

I've never seen the early style SS hood for these trucks. Goodmark now makes a repro hood for 66-67 chevelles so you could get one of those & cut the bulges/grilles out of one & get it welded in yours. I don't think you'll have to worry about somebody else having the same hood if you decide to do it.

why worry about buying a new hood? find one in a wrecking yard (yes, there are still some there, some places) or at a swap meet. it'll probably be much cheaper that way.

Supply & demand. I haven't seen any 66/67 SS hoods in any yards around me. If he was to put his truck in the shop for bodywork today, the new hood might be better since it's possibly easier to obtain. If you have the time to look, then a used one might be better . . ... but I would rather cut up a repro.

I've looked around the local junkyard a few times and I havent seen any 67's out there. Anyone know of a junkyard around the east side of OKC out to Shawnee that has alot of olds cars or parts? It won't be soon that I do this. It will probably be while I'm doing my engine, which is a while away. Heres another pic of the Chevelle. I don't remember where I got the pics from but it was somewhere out on the net.

I want to get one but I decided to build up my truck first. Maybe after college I can get one.

The chances of finding an SS hood in a junk yard are slim to none. Even if you did, it would be far more clostly than buying a new reproduction hood. It would be ashamed to cut up a good GM SS hood anyways. Although I do have a 67 SS hood that is almost unrepairable, but the scoops are still good. Make me an offer and I could cut them out for ya.

I'm pretty poor right now but when I do the engine hopefully at the end of the summer I should have some extra cash. So you have the scoops and the inserts for them? It will cost me around $500-600 I think to buy from Goodmark for the hood and scoops. I'd hate to see an original 67 hood be cut up but if its almost unrepairable and the scoops are in good shape maybe we can work something out down the road.
