Cost of a ring and pinion upgrade.

I was looking into getting some 3:42s put in. I just want the ring and pinion though. I was quoted 900.00 for the whole install. Im Thinkin thats extremely high just to put in a ring and pinion. Could i be wrong?

Re: Cost of a ring and pinion upgrade.

I was quoted $250 for install if I provided the gears and bearing kit.

Yeah that sounds more like it.

Re: Cost of a ring and pinion upgrade.

I do them all the time for $150 plus parts. $150-200 is pretty standard around here.

Re: Cost of a ring and pinion upgrade.

I had front and rear diffs in my Jeep done for like 350 each end. The Dana Jeep axles need a case spreader and all that so the cost may have been more. I would say anything more than $700 for labor is EXTREMELY high. 900 for parts and labor for two axles isn't too crazy. It depends a lot on where you live, it seems that everything around me is pricey though.
