Re: 78 chevy swb electrical issues?

well id start by looking at the ignition switch down the bottom of the column make sure power is going there If not its prolly a bad wire or connection between the nlock and there. also check the fusible link but that will prolly test ok and you may want to get a wiring diagram so you can trace the restof the switch wires and make sure that the wires and connections are good

Re: 78 chevy swb electrical issues?

I would start with a basic test light or volt/ohm meter at the ignition switch. The red wire going into the connector should have battery voltage there with key in run position. Tehn check the same connector puple/white wire for near battery voltage in the start postion. If you have it there go to the bottom of the steering column to the neutral saftey switch and test for power on the same purple/white wire. Power goes out of the ns switch on the purple wire to the starter s terminal. If you have near battery voltage at all of these connections it will start normally.
