Possible buddybuckets

How can I tell whether my buddybuckets are GM or Dodge ? I ran up on a free set in pretty good shape ,would just like to know how to tell which I have. I wish I could post a picture but my computer has a glitch and wont let me. I have done a search but didnt find what I was looking for.Does anyone have a pic I could compare mine to? Thanks in advance.

Re: Possible buddybuckets

I have them already and I think they are original GM seats out of a 67 Chevy parts truck that a friend had. I found some information on the for sale forum and printed it off for a comparison. I had planned on doing the newer Dodge seat conversion but never dreamed I would get a nice set of buddy buckets for free. If I hadnt rescued rhem he was going to throw them away ,so I went yesterday and got them. At some time they have been recovered and the foam seems to be good and the covers only have a small tear. Thanks for the info posted .

Re: Possible buddybuckets

"Free" is always a good deal, no matter if they are GM or Dodge seats. Here are a couple of pictures of a set I have that may help you determine which ones you have.

Re: Possible buddybuckets

Thanks sdaily ,
I am 98% certain mine are GM seats after seeing your photos. Are you the one that lives near Alansclassic ? I met him a while back when he came to get some headers . I look forward to meeting other members . There are quite a few of these old trucks around here.

No problem. Glad I could help and yes I'm Alan's neighbor.

Your friend wouldn't have any other "free" parts would he?

Re: Possible buddybuckets

I just confirmed that my seats are GM from your photos and no I took all his free parts yesterday . I got a set of hubcaps, valve covers, v8 breather assembly, and a set of 4 stock height springs for my truck and the buddybuckets . Not bad for free. He saw my truck a while back at the muffler shop in jasper and wondered who it belonged to as he works on mostly 72 trucks . We got together with the local car club group for an outing and I showed him a photo of my recent purchase and he has been trying to buy it ever since. He had checked it out at the muffler shop but they were not yet open so he couldnt find out whose it was. I guess since he could not buy it he thought he would help me fix it up.

Re: Possible buddybuckets

That single bracket underneath the center of the center console is usually the for sure GM frame. Dodge didn't have any bracket there.

Re: Possible buddybuckets

The big difference is the ends... the dodge buckets had different end brackets... nice score..

I have a set of dodge seats in my build thread (not sure on the post #) and am converting them to GM's...

Re: Possible buddybuckets

Thats our problem ,we cant post them to photo bucket . We do have an account but every time we try to send the photos to photo bucket our computer freezes up. I think its a problem in the windstream line cause we cant email them to walgreens either. Of coarse Windstream says nothing is found to be wrong.
