69 C10 Frame Swap

I have a 1969 Chevy C10 with a bad frame, I am having trouble finding another C10 to just get the frame off of. I have called around to some local salvage yards, looked on craigslist and even thought about taking it to a Frame repair shop. Does anyone know of another frame I can use other 67-72 for these trucks, or any info. would help.

Re: 69 C10 Frame Swap

Did you check the parts for sale forum? Surely, somebody has an extra frame in your area......SWB or LWB?

Re: 69 C10 Frame Swap

Lwb frames are not real hard to find around here. Swb frames are pretty rare, though.

If you were closer I have a lwb frame I am not using.

We put a '63 body on a '69 frame, but did require moving some mounts. So a '66 and older frame will work.

I have heard of people using '73 and newer, but I think it would require quite a bit of mods since they are different lengths.

Put a want to buy on CraigsList, might find something that way.

Don't know how far away this is from you. SWB frame though, my bad. A little pricey.

Re: 69 C10 Frame Swap

I've found a couple of SWB frames on this site, but not any LWB. But the price for that SWB isn't Bad, I might end up switching to a SWB if I can't find a LWB but I don't want to.

Re: 69 C10 Frame Swap

how far you willing to travel to get one?
Look up Harold's Used Cars & Parts in Briggs TX. Not too far from you. HUGE wrecking yard.
I'd bet a kick in the daddy parts you can find one dirt cheap within 100 miles.
I would look for a 71/72, stronger steel used, and if it has the suspention on it, it'll have disk brakes
