Re: California wants to re-instate 75&^ smog
South Carolina doesn't do jack squat. We don't have inspections of any kind. I hope we never do.

Actually it isn't even required when doing a title transfer anymore. Did it ever have a smog pump on it?

Re: California wants to re-instate 75&^ smog
I wonder how many vehicles are still on the road from the 70s used as daily drivers? It has to be less than a couple percentage points compared to all cars on the road. I think most cars from that era that are left would fall more into the hobbyist mode. Not driven much, well tuned and taken care of...Hardly a giant pollution problem.

Re: California wants to re-instate 75&^ smog
My K20 burb has always been exempt due to GVWR here in CA.
In the 70's it had a sticker in the windshield stating that fact, since IIRC a long time ago there were a lot of emissions check points.

Re: California wants to re-instate 75&^ smog
too much political crap going on in this thread, it is getting locked, and the offending posts will be reviewed and temp bans considered.
We have tried to keep this board a political free zone for many years. The original poster did not ask for whom is to blame, or any other political opinions. He brought up an important problem that we as classic auto enthusiasts need to be aware of and be ready to act on. We can not ban this kind of discussion, however, we as a forum, need to know how to keep this discussion from becoming political. So, again, this thread is closed. |
