American Classic Truck Parts...

I DO NOT RECOMMEND...They had a typo on their website and I ordered the wrong part...Did not realize until after the return period so they "couldnt do anthing about it". When I brought the website error to their attention, they actually corrected the error while I was talking to them and tried to make me look like I was crazy...I just wanted to get the right part but they refused to make it right...GOOD EXAMPLE OF WHY TO GO WITH BOARD VENDORS WHEN POSSIBLE...

Re: American Classic Truck Parts...

i've run into the same problem with other vendors too.I started buying parts when I started my project. I bought Autometer gages ....$568.00 worth and a 160* Hi-Flo thermostat. When I started the truck The oil press sending unit leaked around the crimp and the thernostat stuck shut. I should have boiled the stat first....my bad. But they told me the time was to long to get any satisfaction on the press gage. I know I can't afford to buy every thing at the last minute as I had well $16,000.00 in parts for the project.

It had been several months...but I just wanted to swap for the right part...Heck, it was about the same price...You know, if you make a mistake, fine..just make it right...

Sorry to hear that! That's a local vendor in my area, and have used them in the past a few times. Never had any issues, but nice to know next time.

Unfortunately, anymore as soon as you get your order you have to check it and make sure everything looks right and is there, and install the parts ASAP - because if any time goes by at all, your usually out of luck.

Brothers is local to me, and I have been trying to get cab mounts from them for over a month. Typical. They are waiting on a couple washers to make the kit complete Once again a part I need and once again not in stock. Off to the truck shop I go.

Re: American Classic Truck Parts...

SUMMIT STOOD BY ME AWHILE BACK. I BOUGHT A B&M RACHET SHIFTER FOR A PROJECT ABOUT 10 OR 12 YEARS AGO. WELL IT WAS A GOOD 2 1/2 YEARS BEFORE I GOT IT ON THE ROAD. I EXPLAINED IT TO THE TECH. AT SUMMIT (IT WASN'T PERFORMING UP TO PAR) & HE SAID TO JUST BRING IT IN FOR A REPLACEMENT. (THATS ONE BIG THING I MISS ABOUT NEVADA IS BEING 35 MILES FROM A SUMMIT STORE) I ALREADY HAD IT INSTALLED, COVER CUT TO FIT THE FLOOR, ECT. SO I JUST TOOK OUT THE HANDLE & RACHET ASSY. FIGURING ON JUST TAKING THE NEW ONE OUT OF THE BOX, & LETTING THEM KEEP ALL THE BRAND NEW ACC. (BRACKETS, CABLE,BOOT & COVER) WELL THE COUNTER GUY AT SUMMIT INSISTED THAT I TAKE THE WHOLE NEW KIT, & USE EM FOR SPARE PARTS. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A BOX OR EVEN AN OLD GROCERY BAG TO PUT IT IN. HE INSISTED THAT WAS ALL HE NEEDED. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS B&Ms OR SUMMITs CUST. SERVICE, OR A COMBINATION OF THE TWO, BUT THEY WERE GREAT. I'VE PROBABLY TOLD THIS STORY 50 TIMES SINCE IT HAPPENED, SO IT'S CAME BACK AROUND TO THEM. I'VE NEVER HESITATED TO USE EITHER COMPANY WITH COMPLETE CONFIDENSE. JOHN

Re: American Classic Truck Parts...

Um this is a negative forum no good stories. Just joking good to hear some people stand behind what they sell. It seems like now days since companies that sell never seem to be the makers no one takes responsibility.

Same here, I have used Sumitt for a long time and have NEVER had any kind of problem. If you have to return something they will email you a printable shipping label so it doesn't cost for you to ship your return back. I use no other online performance company other than Sumitt.

I bought a couple of items from Brother's and waited 3 1/2 weeks on my parts so I called them up and they told me they were still on backorder after I was told they had them in stock when I placed the order. I PM'd John@Brother's, one of our vendors and a super nice member and in four days my parts were here.

Re: American Classic Truck Parts...

We bought a firewall pad from Bother and one section was backordered. When I received the last section it was thicker than the rest and had different insulation. Whick when this was installed it didn't match the rest. Brothers never did anything for my Dad. They just ignored all requests.

SUMMIT never even ask me to return anything.
They just sent a replacement. I now deal with
them more often.

Re: American Classic Truck Parts...

It never ceases to amaze me at the mindset of some businesses. They'd rather lose not only one but several future sales and customers than to try to rectify a mistake and please a customer.

Twenty years ago I stopped buying tires at Sears due to one tire they would not acknowledge was defective (on a Honda no less). I have spent countless hundreds of dollars on tires on all my vehicles since then but not at Sears.

A satisfied customer is worth more than a few dollars lost. He will come back and pass the experience on to others. On the other hand a disatisfied customer may cost them 10 times more with bad publicity.
