Re: lmc door panels
Don't you have to buy their inserts for them to work correctly?

Re: lmc door panels
I have them and they look like if they are too big, and the aluminum looking insert that goes in the top of the panel doesn't look like it will fit without cutting it out.

Re: lmc door panels
He must have bought the ones with the inserts molded in. They sell two types
One is molded and the others use factory inserts. The ones using factory trim are Manufactured by Palco Industries and fit better. We sell them also |

Re: lmc door panels
Lmc does sell an OE style, but its only for 77-80, what year truck do you have and what year panels did you get
i have the 81+ LMC panels, top metal trim fit fine, and i put the velour inserts on top of the plastic, no cutting, on mine it sticks out about 1/8 or 3/16 of an inch Last edited by 95 S_Trucker; 02-27-2010 at 10:53 AM. |

Re: lmc door panels
I bought my door panels from LMC. They fit fine with no problem matching up to original screw holes, etc. My panels are the basic style; so, no trim panels/ electric window switches, etc. The only difference I noticed between originals & replacements is that the surface texture is smoother & a little "harder" feel, but overall feel /look is good.

Re: lmc door panels
Can the billet inserts still be used on these panels? I dont doubt that they will fit fine what worries me is the accesories for the panel and how they would go back on

Re: lmc door panels
I'm still putting my 86 back together and just finished up w/pw pl. Looking at replacing my factory maroon door panels w/some red ones from LMC. I wonder if red and maroon are the same? From the pics looks like fit is good but I may not use the carpet insert. In any case those before and after pics sold me.

Re: lmc door panels
just scored some door panels from LMC.
They are blank, you have to cut the holes for window crank or power. And cut for chrome factory bezel. The template is on the back side of the door panel. Comes with all the hardware including the for the pocket. Im not installing mine Arm rests are on back order...should be in this week. Billet trim on the way too here they are http://www.lmctruck.com/features/cc/ccin5.htm

Re: lmc door panels
They look nice. I purchased the billet trim as well, hoping they will fit perfectly onto the panels. I see you reused your OEM carpet trim. The chrome piece adds a nice touch. When your billets and arm rests arrive, please post some pics of them installed.
So far, are you satisfied with the LMC panels? And the coloring is a satin finish, right? I'm thinking of picking up a pair of black panels -- I'm hoping they are satin finish. |

Re: lmc door panels
One more question:
Does your door panel color/finish, match your OEM pillar and window trim moldings? In other words, it's not too dark a blue or too shiney on the finish. Thanks. |

Re: lmc door panels
thanks! yeah im digging them. they are diffrent from the originals.
The finish is like a matte finish, its not glossy lookn. Its a different composite than the originals. Take your time cutting out the necessary holes. nope. its darker than the oem pillar. It almost matches the original dash thou. They sell the dye paint for the pillars...thats on the way too. Has anyone ordered the pillar kit? |

Re: lmc door panels
Hmmm. That's what I figured with the color saturation. I appreciate the feedback. I'm sure it looks good though. The reason I asked is because I'm changing my "red" interior to black. It took me two years to find OEM/NOS black-colored interior pillar and window moldings and they are perfect. I also have OEM black-colored seat belts. The only thing that will not be OEM/NOS is the cover of my bench seat and carpeting (and possibly the door panels if I decide to do the LMC replacements). I found an upholdry shop that will do a stock look but with either black leather or vinyl materials. Still deciding which to go with.
I purchased SEM vinyl paints from Classic Parts of America a while ago as I was planning to reuse my original door panels. I heard this is really durable paint. Any negatives on the door panels you can think of? Like, does the panels feel like they can crack easily (or if you experienced cracking or worping when you were doing the cut outs)? |

Re: lmc door panels
nope, i just took my time with a sharp box cutter. No warping @ all.
The panels are stiffer than the originals, but they wont break or crack. The texture is different too, doesnt look oem have u tried these?..they are black...u have to paint them http://www.classicparts.com/Door-Panels/products/1001/

Re: lmc door panels
Nope. The tech dude that I always order from told me honestly to stay away from the reproductions as they look cheapy. Plus the OEM trim cannot be reused on the panels (per item description online and in paper catalog). However, the reason I've been purchasing my suspension and interior parts from CPA is that they have a majority of OEM/NOS parts, and pride themselves on not selling cheap/cool-looking China replacement stuff. If they had NOS panels for my 86 (full power options), I'd spend the extra $$$.

Re: lmc door panels
FYI - This is what my current OEM interior looks like. It's in very good shape but I like the color black better. Hence, the interior color change.
