Your going to laugh

Ok guys might sound like a dumb question but what would the chances of a carburetor on a truck not getting enuff fuel at that kind of angle to keep the truck running while backing up the truck up on a boat ramp to put a boat or a jet ski in the water???

Re: Your going to laugh

I would guess there's a chance of this happening. Don't sound too likely though.

A couple guesses would be:

Floats set too low on the carb
Fuel pump getting weak. Not enough pressure to pump the fuel at that angle.

I'm sure some experts will chime in...

Re: Your going to laugh

Do you still have the Quadrajet on it? They are known for working better at angles than some of the other brands.

If you have low fuel in the tank it could do it.

Re: Your going to laugh

I have had a simular situation with a quadrajet. The vehicle would die each time it would go up hill. As it turns out there was an extra spring inside the float bowl. When the car went up hill the spring rolled under the float and shut off the fuel. Tow truck came to tow it home and by then it would jar loose and start. Wierd things happen to Mopars when you put a quadrajet on them

Re: Your going to laugh

I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

We have a pretty steep incline here at the track, steeper than a boat ramp, not by much and I'd say 1/2 the tow-rigs are carburetor and they make it up and down.

Don't let the tires spin on your way out, though

im happy with the truck avenger it does really well but usually im not on an incline that steep for more than a couple of secs or long enuff to get over the hill or ect but it didnt have any type of notice that it would shut off on me!!!!

Re: Your going to laugh

i had that problem with a Jeep....and believe me, you get into some weird angles with jeeps. i rebuilt the motorcraft carb a couple times, then replaced it couple times....then found out the pick-up in the gas tank was messed up. it is a PITA, but i would check that if you do not find any other solution.
