The truck frame and suspension are looking awesome. Is that a mustang 2 front end? If so where did you get the kit from?

The truck color and rims look great....but i'm older.

MII from speedway motors. Ended up costing me 1700 for the complete kit, power rack and all.

Re: Project '57 2WD

took about 4-5 hours to tear the front end down, pull the computer wiring out of the cab, and pull the bed off. of course it was all the little things that take all the time. anyways dad and i just got it set over on the other frame. need to get a new (shallower) fuel tank. need to reposition the rear coil overs (they are too long).

It made me laugh at myself when i was tearing the wiring apart. It looked like some 12 year old kid wired this truck (haha). needless to say it will all be soldered and heat shrunk when it goes back together. need to order one of those 800 dollar gauge clusters (ouch!!) in order to keep an eye on the engine vitals.

i'm afraid the front coil springs are going to be to light. i sure hope not. i need my wiring harness back and installed, along with the power steering lines completed before i throw the front clip on.

Just a few odds and ends before the bed gets bolted down. need to tighten up my 4 link, fix my coil overs, run the rear light wires, and fuel tank/lines and the bed can go on.

going to have some clearance problems with those wide tires in the rear. they are a little wider than i thought they would be. looks like i will have around 1/2" of clearance on each side of each tire if i can get it tucked under there like i want.

to bad this one wont go together as quick as it came apart. lol

Re: Project '57 2WD

Are you putting AC in the truck? If so, are you using the stock compressor on the 5.3l? I'll have to move mine up high and the aftermarket bracket is too much. I'll try to make my own first. Also, are you making/ buying an engine cover or leaving it nekkid?

Truck already had a/c from the first time around. vintage air i believe. (been several years) but yes, i'm going to use the stock compressor.

i have the vortec cover that comes stock with the pickups, i'll slap that on there just for giggles but i'm not putting any more money in it than that. i had to get block hugger headers to get the steering linkage to fit.

I was only a few weeks from being done till i pulled this 06 cummins into the shop. set me back a good little bit

Re: Project '57 2WD

Took a long break (i was supposed to have this stupid thing done a month ago...) but have finally got motivated to work on it again. Got my fuel lines ran and secured, fuel tank is also in. Wiring harness came in (a long time ago) and got most of it all hooked up. just like a few main power wires and the gauge cluster. power steering lines and steering joints are on their way. May get the front clip set back on this weekend so i can mount the computer in order to hook up the rest of my harness. Hope to get it started soon...

Re: Project '57 2WD

May be talking to the wind but here goes..

Got alotta crap done the last coupla days. Put her up on the lift and tighened/mounted/secured alot of loose ends. Fluids changed, yadda yadda yadda. Finished up the brake lines and such. Still have a few odds and ends to chase but did alot of wiring tonight on the engine harness. Have it wired up to where it will crank. however i still have to wire a relay to fire the fuel pump and a relay to fire the ignition coming from the computer.

Thought my fuel system was done... turns out i pulled a rookie move and assumed the second line coming out of the manifold was the return. turns out its some stupid emission crap. i need a fuel filter out of a 98-02 vette, its a filter/regulator all in one. being as how my 5.3 has a non-return fuel rail.

anyways, i hope to get it fired up tomorrow!!! going to get the filter in the morning along with a few other odds and ends i need. if all of my sensors are good theres no reason for it not to fire. everybody cross your fingers haha

Re: Project '57 2WD

In this vid it wouldn't rev up. Chased wires and re-pinned the throttle pedal harness and still no go. Turns out I had a ground on the drivers side near the back of the block that solely functions as a ground for the pedal harness/box. Grounded it and it works. Its the little crap that gets ya every time...
