Big Block power steering

My '70 has a '76 454 "long water pump" motor, with that motors' P/S bracket and pump still intact. (Chassis is now manual steer and will convert box and arm)

Understand the OE BB bracket, pump and reservoir are way different? Will this '76 pump work if I find an OE bracket?

Eventually I'll swap motor back to an original SB, so not necessarily looking for a stock '70 conversion, would rather leave those brackets, pumps and parts for someone who needs them.

Are there other alternatives? Aftermarket bracket for newer style pump? Anybody made a custom bracket? Pic's? Dimensions?

John

Re: Big Block power steering

My '67 has a '75 454 with the long pump as well. I have power steering but I am not sure what the brackets are from/year/etc. but I could get you some pics if you need of the bracket, the bracket on the engine, and the pump.

Hard to know what and where everything came from on my truck...its got a '75 454 out of a pickup hooked up to a T5 out of an 89 V8 camaro with modified small block perch motor mounts (so the engine sits way back...TIGHT against the firewall) and a modified stock crossmember for the trans. Needless to say I have figured this out along the way...!

Re: Big Block power steering

Thanks! Pics would be great.

This ('76) motor came out of a '72 C/30, but I have no clue if that truck was originally a big block, or, any differences from the /10-/20 to the /30.

I'll try to get pics of what I have posted tomorrow

John
