HEI Plug Wire Resistance

What should the resistance be on the HEI plug wires? I have three that are from a different manufacturer but if the resistance is ok, I guess I will just use them until I find a nice, reasonably priced set of new ones. Mine vary from 1500 ohms to 15,000 ohms...one measures 42,000 ohms! My son's HP MSD wires read about 186 ohms!

I would throw out the 46 kohm it if was me. If memory serves, about 5,000 per foot is the spec.

It depends on what kind of wires they are. The spiral core wires (like the MSDs) will have very low resistance.

My son's new MSDs are about 186 ohms! I just won't pay $80 for wires! I am guessing I only need to buy one then...replace that 46,000 ohm wire. Hey if it works really well...I might just spring for some new wires but I don't want to replace what ain't broken!

Pep Boys has spiral-core plug wire sets for around $35.
