I got a 79 2wd blazer just about ayear ago. Saw it and thought she could just be a cruiser. It has been lowered with drop spindles and a flip kit in the rear', thought it was the coolest thing I'd seen in a long time. I didn't even know what a flip kit was. When I bought the blazer it had headers that were beat to death from hanging down below the frame rails. . I took the headers off and installed exh. manifolds so I could enjoy driving the thing, what a snail.. must go faster with smokey burnouts lol.

Turns out I'm thinking I would enjoy driving it much more with another couple hundred more horsepower and headers and stuff, I thought this might happen.

Am swaping the 305 for 355. I've searched around on the site some but have not come across any solutions for headers hanging down to low. Don't really want the shorty style headers.
I saved the headers that came off just to compare them to other headers guys had for sale, have not found anything on the market suitable. I do have some hooker comps for the thing but looks like they will be just as low. Thought about trying later model trucks or car types with low ground clearance, Who knows what I need? Thaks for any advice!!!!!

Welcome to the board Will Scratch. You may want to try some chevelle headers. Just make sure you can return them if they don't fit.

Welcome. Im running a set of 62-67 chevy 2 hooker super comps on mine had to mod a couple things nothing major though

no pics but the bottom of the headers are about an inch below the frame if you need a snugger fit that that you might want to look into a block hugger style or ask some of the guys on here that have the frames laying on the ground what they are using

Mine dont hand below the frame at all. actually its about .5 inch above the frame. Very nice headers

For a sbc Dougs D-310c fit perfect great ground clearance. The oil pan not so much

Or the patriot clipsters work well also H 8021-1

Comparing Doug's D310's to the Patriot H8048's. Looks like the same header only with thinner tubes and flanges. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PTE-H8048/. For under 200 without the coating. Quality vs. cost. Any comments.

Quality vs cost... that's a real nice way of saying you get what you pay for. LOL

The headers hanging down below the frame rail will be the least of your gripes when you are constantly chasing leaking gaskets. Get the header with the THICKEST die cut flanges you can afford. This can get real expensive (a set of custom headers with a 3/8 or 7/16 flange will easily top $1100 coated)

You should size the header (and length for that matter) to the power / rpm range of the motor. Most street bound small blocks seldom need anything larger than 1-5/8" primary, and a 3" collector with a cone to 2.5" exhaust. Once you top 500-550HP then larger primaries (1-3/4 or even 1-7/8" ) become warranted,, or on nitrous motors where there is buttloads of exhaust to get rid of. But the smaller tube will keep exhaust port velocity up to help scavenge the chamber of spent gasses, and initiating the flow of fresh intake charge. Too big of a tube the exhaust flow all but stalls offering little scavenging. So point is,, don't get crazy with the bigger is better concept,, it will hurt more than help.

Be sure that you are running the same engine/trans mount setup. My hooker super comp headers fit great then I changed to solid mounts and it lowered the engine in the chassis and I am now having ground clearance issues.
