1969 C10 - Retirement Project
Recently brought a 69 C10. Will post pictures soon. Looking forward to
gathering knowledge/know-how from the members on this fine site. As always, got a question: My engine numbers are TIII2GF. Could anyone identify what type of engine this is? I've looked at the links provided, but i'm unable to break it out. |

Re: 1969 C10 - Retirement Project
Thanks guys. Nothing major as far as plans. Want to make it a daily driver.
Current "TO DO" list include: Replace master cylinder - Done. Replace brake hoses - Done Replace wheel cylinders - Done. Install booster for power brakes - Pending Install power steering - Pending Due to the job I'm only able to work on it on the weekends, but so far I'm enjoying it. I know I'll have a different story once I get to the body work! Looking to find a good parts truck to help offset the price of all the body parts that I'll need if possible. |

Re: 1969 C10 - Retirement Project
Can you check the casting date code? Code GF can apply to three different years. Anyway here is the break down of T1112GF.
T= Tonawanda Engine Plant 11= Month of manufacture= November 12= Day of manufacture= November 12 GF= One of the following engines: 1955 265 cid, 1957 283 cid, or 1965 283 cid Good luck on your project! Jim

Re: 1969 C10 - Retirement Project
what body work? patina is popular... do a search for "shop trucks" and you'll see... congrats on the retirement...
I'd put a "Property of US Navy" shop logo on the door, lower it a little with nice tires and rims then cruise in it... Original engine could have been an I-6 250 or 292, or V8 307, 350, 396 (big block)

Re: 1969 C10 - Retirement Project
Thanks guys, believe that it's a 283. Will try to get the block codes this weekend. And yes, it will be patina for a while. And USN will definitely be somewhere on the body, might even put a hull number on if posible..
