Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

We ended up not milling down the rotors or trying to get new calipers, rotors blah blah blah. We just got 1" spacers, but the inside diameter had to be machined out to 3.25 to fit over the rear axle flange and the front rotor hub. The Boss 338 look great. With the spacers it is ALMOST flush with the inside fenderwell. Thanks for all the input.
83 C-10 shortbed w/ 1.25 rotors.
4/4 drop in the works.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

The final call was all four corners with 18 x 9.5. It is my fathers truck that he bought new in 83. He really liked the larger polished edge. The tires are 295/45/18. The outside diameter per the various charts is 28.4. Per our measurement it is pretty close. 28.2 or 28.3. I think the wider rim brought that down a little. Next is to drop it down. The kit is on the way and just need to pick up some shocks that are appropriate.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Wasup fellas, i have been watching this thread since it began coming back weekly only to hear the revisions still have not been released. Well i purchased one wheel from jdwheels.com in order to test the fit on my 95 caprice. I am looking to see if anymore black cars have grey centered wheels on this website. Heres a pic i just snapped of my, its about a year from having its last car wash and being driven.

Cleaner picture of my ride.

Nice. I am getting 18" staggered with 295/35 in back, with 245/40 up front.

Yes you definitely need to drop it down, to get that gap closed above the tire. It should make them look even bigger.

Can't wait to get mine all together.

18x8s on all four corners with the knocks-offs, on a Chevy 5x5. It can be done.

The most recent conversation I had with the B'ham, Al. warehouse is that the new design still doesn't quite fit over the 1.25" rotor, but it's very close they say, like 1/16". That would be easy enough to remedy. This was a set of 20" ones, while I am STILL waiting on my 18x8" ones for the front

Hey guys,

I may consider the 20s instead of waiting on the 18s. I like the staggered wheels with the deep dish look in the rear.
What is the difference in the 18x9.5 and the 20x10 as far as how deep the lip is? How much of a lip does each wheel have?

I have the 20x10's and my cousin has the 18x9.5, and the lip on his is way deeper than mine, i would say at least an inch.

Thanks. Now I guess I will keep waiting for the 18s, if I want to stick with the look I want.

Seems you could figure it out exactly by comparing the backspacing specs on the Boss website. I'm too exhausted to look it up myself, but here's the link:

http://www.bossmotorsports.com/custo...els.cfm?id=408

Okay, I guess I'm not that exhausted. Here are the specs:

20x10 BS = 6.225

18x9.5 BS = 5.031

If I'm not mistaken, the lip on the 18x9.5 should be about 3/4" greater than the 20x10 -- 6.225 - 5.031 - 0.5 (rim width difference) = 0.694 in

I got bad news for ya -- your dealer won't even know on Monday how long they're backordered. Even Eagle doesn't know, or at least they're not saying. There's more discussion of this in the group buy thread.

Nice looking Tahoe Sydwayz! Any more pics of it with the new shoes? I love how clean and mean the black Tahoes look all hunkered down. Makes me kinda wish I had one.

I ordered some 20x8s/20x10s in chrome from one of our wheel suppliers at work and I was assured my set would be here very soon I was told I would be getting the first set that hit their wharehouse(I wonder how many people he told that). Told me to give them about a week we'll see.....
