1993 chevy burban 4x4

i had this 4x4 for few years now and now just recently blow a head gasket
money is short so decided to rebuild it myself .. i thought for min there i had it fix but after a week of driving it it started smoking really bad
so now i have to redo it and take the heads to a shop...

i was thinking maybe selling and parting the engine and tranny for my 65
does any one know if there is any parts from this 4x4 chevy burban that i can use
for my truck
example: a arms,power steering, disc brakes,Mc,rear end

Re: 1993 chevy burban 4x4

The transmission won't work since it is a 4wd style. You will need to find a 4L60E that is a 2wd version if you want to retain the EFI. To use the EFI from the '93 Suburban, you will need all the engine and trans wiring harness as well as the ECM to control it all, plus an EFI fuel pump. This conversion can be overwhelming for someone that doesn't have a lot of mechanical/electronics experience as it requires that all the sensors be in place and possibly a modified EPROM for the ECM. You could always convert the engine to a carburator and bolt up a TH350 or a 700R4.

my understanding is the 700r4 thats in the burban can be use just need to change the tail shaft end that makes it 4x4. i do have another 700r4 that needs rebuilding
so i fig i would just exchange tailend of the tranny and sell the the one that needs rebuilding
and as far as the efi stuff goes nice thing is not to many sensor on this year
but ill just bolt on a carb instead
could i use the Master cylinder of this truck
or the power steering componets

Re: 1993 chevy burban 4x4

I could be wrong, but I believe that transmission would be the 4L60E, which is the electronic version of the 700R4. If so it will need the computer to operate or a aftermarket standalone controller ($1000.00-$1200.00). Either way you can't just bolt on the 2wd tailshaft housing, you need to change the output shaft as well. That requires a complete disassembly of the transmission.
