Buddy of mine had a book that was like a high school yearbook from the movie. It was pretty cool.

Re: It's the summer of "72"
I was 4 then but spent alot of time at the local drive in on Saturday nights. I've been hooked on tire smoke ever since LOL. Slots were the hot item and a set of Firestones. But yall have left out chrome reverse steelies. I can still picture a midnight blue 55 sedan with cut out quarters white smoking them through all 4 gears!

Re: It's the summer of "72"
I took your advice fellas and Netflixed Dazed and Confused. Other than the cool rides that has to be one of the absolutely worst movies that I have ever seen.
Geat cars though and it got me away from my slotted mag fixation. |

Not a short bed 1/2 ton 2wd, but was there another choice other than slotted mags?

Re: It's the summer of "72"
It was aluminum slots, chrome smoothies,or deep dish steelies with "normal" sized sidewalls back then for a shortbed. Some did run 60 seried, but I felt they weren`t right for a truck.White spokes were for 4wds and then crept over to 2wds by the mid to late`70s.You really didn`t see white spokes till later in the`70s anyway.
In`73 I bought a big block shortbed Highlander from the OK Used Car lot ($2,800).I went out and got 8" for the front and 10" for the rear in steel and popped`55 Chevy car hubcaps on it.A lot of guys ran baby moons and beauty rings with the wheels painted black. My wheels were white.I took those Highlander caps off as soon as I got home.

And to think I sent away two sets of slotted mags on a 69 c/10 I scrapped. My dad has always raved about them... thought the look was the thing, but I didn't know what they were worth.

And I agree with Special-K ... The sidewall back then was normal sized. Today's crazy sidewalls...not so much =) |

Re: It's the summer of "72"
I was also 7 in 72' but i remember it well.
the leftover hippies, the beautiful "straight hair" that chicks were wearing at that time, and cars that were cheap. And i mean like a couple hundred bucks for classics that would be worth thousands today! and "dazed and confused" continues to be one of my all time favorite movies! Especially the "arcade" scene where they walk in to bob dylan playing "hurricane" |
