Re: finally found a carb, need it identified please
It sure does not look like any of the carbs I have seen on the i-6s, so I am not sure.
My 67 has the Rochester B and my 70 has a Monojet. Hopefully some one else that knows more about it will chime in. Danny

Re: finally found a carb, need it identified please
did a Google image search for "single barrel carter carb." A pic of that one came up on a camaro website. Here's what it said:
"Carter Carburetors The Carter "YF" single barrel carburetor was used only in 1967, and only on the six-cylinder engines with A.I.R. (Air Injection Reactor, aka "Smog"). " so... designed for a 6 cyl if nothing else, right? good luck!

Re: finally found a carb, need it identified please
thanks guys, ill see if i can get a rebuild kit for it but i did put it on my 292, and it flies! does have a small leak(gaskets are dried and cracked lol. and someone cut off the choke tower and linkage so i have to manually run the choke by starting the truck then running under hood then moving the choke, then have to hold ot open with a wire lol. but its way better then my old carb that wouldn't run above 1500-2000rpms.
oh yeah thought you'd guys like this i got this for 72cents at the scrap yard! best 72cents ever. Last edited by 292farmer; 04-10-2010 at 09:48 AM. |

Most Carter YF carbs for GM are 1947 to 53 or so. You need a Rochester B that looks like
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1126540 rock auto has one for 93.00 your carb is for AMERICAN MOTORS 1970-1976 FORD 1966-1978, 1980-1982 JEEP 1971-1976 MERCURY 1968-1974 |

Re: finally found a carb, need it identified please
ok thanks dwcsr! that real cheap autozone and the other parts stores in my areas are asking 200$!! for a carb for my 292. i'll save up for that rochester, im hoping one day to go with either a 2x1 or 3x1 intake will the rochester's perform well in multiple carb setups? however in the meantime, that carter is working real well right now, at least my trucks back on the road. thank to everyone!
