What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
I have 420 hp, 32 inch rear tire, 3.08 gears, 700r4 with 30% lower first gear and a taller over drive gear, i think it is .67. I think i am going to get 23- 25 miles per gallon.

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
molinehotrod, it'll be interesting to hear what you actually get....
With three tanks, mine's kind of a pita to check, and I've only bothered once, many years ago, on a 3,500+ mile norcal - kansas - norcal trip in the dead of winter. I got 11.5 mpg. I only made one other attempt to check it, a couple years ago, fall through spring. On colder mornings, it was on fast idle for several minutes to warm up so the windshield would clear. Then just a couple minutes to work, and much the same for the trip home after work. I added up what I had put in, several tanks worth. Did the math. Came out to two mpg -- yup, you read that right.

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
not hapining!
I would recomend that since you are nowhere near stock gearing / tire size / transmision, you will have to put an adapter on your cable to correct your spedo. A local spedo shop would be able to take care of that for you. Only then could you even figure your mileage. I guess another way would be with a full tank of gas and a gps. Matt

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
You're still pushing a brick through the air... good luck, but it sounds a bit ambitious.
Our V6 Tacoma is geared fairly tall, and it typically gets 18 mpg on the highway.

I would be seriously shocked if you got 15 with a 420hp engine with a carb

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
yeah, those tires are tall and rear gear high, so highway cruising might not be bad in OD, but I still think you're being VERY optimistic!!
city driving will probably suck up the fumes quick too! That's a tall tire to get rolling with your gearing alterations... And keep in mind that rpm at a given speed doesn't tell the whole story. Depend on how heavy your foot is and how far down you have to push to keep that "brick" moving at that rate of speed, not to mention how quick you want to get there!

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
Guys before my suspension change with same motor and 28 inch tires all the way around i ranged from 22-23 mpg I don't know how but it is great. Look at a 98 and up camaro with six speed 23-25 on highway with a smaller tire and shorter gear. Think about it.

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
as stated, there is no way with your combos your spedo is even close to accurate.

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
camaro is also much more aerodynamic.
You'll be getting better gas mileage than just about any brand new truck on the road, with their VVT and DoD and all the other fuel saving technology...

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
ls1 f-bodies ran even less on the highway and were only rated at 28 mpg with fuel injection, a more conservative engine setup of course, and a .5:1 6th coupled with 3.42's. There's not a snowball's chance in hell you're getting anywhere near that.

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
you're not. choose the correct speedometer gears for your trans. Can't rely on a fuel gauge to be correct either as far as how much gas you have to put in

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
I doubt that thing has ever been on the freeway long enough to get a mpg reading. it spends most its time idling and cruising.
Im not hating, trust me I wish our trucks could get killer mileage, its just not gonna happen.

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
So not ONE other person in this thread is going to talk about THEIR mpgs as th title states... Well I get around 12 mpg if im lucky, though its a bit rough as a DD right now with long trips. Everyone else is just having fun ganging up on the guy, if hes right hes right, if hes wrong hes wrong, doesnt effect you anyway shape or form, relax.

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
haha, I don't think anyone here is trying to mob you with snow balls, but reality check is in store. If you're getting that good of gas mileage out of those, you really need to write some books on your tricks, especially in this "eco-age", you'll rake in some money!
By the way, nice Radirs, love those wheels! Heck, that entire rig there is style for miles, nice work!

Re: What kind of fuel mileage is every one getting
I'm getting 12.5 average with mine. Mild 355/700r4 and a 3.42 rear gear with a 28" tall tire.
On the freeway about 70 it's turning about 2K, add wind etc and the engine will labor a bit to hold speed so mileage goes in the crapper Around town I am getting 10 I imagine. I have had it as high as 15 once freeway driving, warm calm day and no traffic but those days are few and far between.
