1971 and 1972 C10 Compatibility
How compatible are '71 and 72' C10's? Cab's, Bed's, doors, fenders, hoods, tailgates, interior parts, etc.... Both are long beds. Sorry for being so vague, just wondering if I could use a '72 as a parts source for my '71.

Re: 1971 and 1972 C10 Compatibility
No problem. No questions are vague. Pretty much everything is interchangeable, just not all original. '72 doors will work on a '71, but they are a little different in the door panel. The rear view mirror is mounted on the windshield in the '72, on the roof in the '71. As far as I know all body parts are interchangeable.

Re: 1971 and 1972 C10 Compatibility
Thanks for such a quick reply. I thought they would be pretty much compatible but wanted to make sure.
So the cab mounts and the bed mounts are in the same places on the frame also? Forgot to mention that mine is a wood bed and the other is a steel bed. Maybe that won't work???........ |

Any other input on issues I should be aware of?

Re: 1971 and 1972 C10 Compatibility
The 72 doors have longer shafts for the window and door latch handles. The 72 doors also have a screw hole and dimple below the vent window. The 67-71 doors will have nuts around the lower perimeter of the door to hold the door panel on and the 72 doors just have holes for clips to pop through. All of the parts will interchange by swapping small parts, drilling or filling holes, or welding on some nuts. 72 doors are really the only significant difference and not a very big one at that.

So can I just swap complete doors? The hinges are the same and mount to the cab the same?
Also does anyone know if a steel bed will bolt to the frame in the same places that a wooden bed does? |
