She is fine.
Her story says driving home 5am after friends bday party and either had reached to get something she dropped (phone, lighter, i dunno) or was falling asleep, either way drifted off to the right and hit the freeway wall. left the truck there walked to a house in whatever neighborhood knocked on the door and nobody answered ended up passing out on their porch. police woke her up and began to arrest her for hit and run and a public intoxication cuffed her read rights and placed in back of car. about ten min goes by and they tell her its her lucky day that they are giving her a courtesy ride home and they drop her off at the house no ticket or anything. i go to get her truck out of impound and find it as shown in pic with the fender shoved into the door and lower control arm and tire ripped off 90 degrees. that day cost 503 dollars. we had liability coverage only so Trucks totaled, but nobodys hurt its just simply ok must buy a new vehicle. 4 days later insurance calls my number lookin for her im wondering why they would be calling because we didnt put in a claim being liability only there was nothing they would cover. same day when i get home an email from insurance saying a 03 chevy silverado has placed property damage and personal injury claim against her they need to get statement from her now.. thats where the story sits as of now.
im gonna have to get her another vehicle and i want my money back for helping her so as soon as i can get it to the house without having to pay a wrecker again another 150 or whatever, im parting out her truck. this makes me put the 72 on hold now im out of cash to get the 72 driveable and need to sell off my extra parts but nobodys jumping on them so the only good thing is that she wasnt hurt or in jail everything else is just crappy

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

Nothing special to update except that about 4am Saturday night the driveway was cleared and i drove the truck for the first time and it got its own gas
BY THE WAY~ a tip i learned the hard way ~do not put the fuel nozzle in the gas tank, do that little clip thing where you dont have to keep your hand on the nozzle, and talk about your truck to others. not a smart idea. After about 3 gallons the nozzle slipped out of the tank fell to the right spraying fuel back onto the door the bed my leg the tires and under the truck.

yup yup no clip just the battery bunjeed to a 2x4 across the frame in front of the radiator, the core support bolted with the 2 main bolts thru the frame and a chain wrapped from one radiator support bracket hole down under the frame around the bumper and back to the radiator bracket hole on the other side which keeps the core support from leaning backwards in the wind.
the gas station was only about 1.5 miles but i also drove it to the house which is 21 miles, then i drove today to meet up with a fellow member Slick67, his see post # 609 about 5 miles further than the house and back to the shop afterward another (25ish miles) then back to the house tonight (20ish miles) and will be taking it to a jobsite at work tomorrow morning also (10ish miles) back to the shop after that (15ish miles)and leave it there for a bit

Sittin at home

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

so after driving around for a day its showing all the little things that need attention from sitting for however long before i acquired it.
The rear diff is leaking
drivers side tie rod needs replaced
wasp nests appear from nowhere
wheelbarrows slide out the bed with no tailgate (x2)
possibly a lifter is knocking
while it shifted into second from a medium well strong take off, a second gear scratch was a pleasing sound to hear, however that was instantly followed by a horrible sound of a rear leaf spring sliding down the feeder road behind me. apparently one of the leafs were cracked in half and the now capable flexing of the suspension allowed the release of the cracked half to go on its own joy ride

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

So i got the front clip back on today with a handful of extra bolts left over so i know i did it right! However i am missing the 2 bolts (one from each side) that go in the bottom of the fender behind the tire if anyone has some extras they would like to donate that would be great.

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

I ran out of money getting the girlfriends truck back out of impound after she wrecked it, tried to part it out posted it up here, craigslist in 3 local cities within 200 miles, I joined the s10 forum just to list it to the s10 guys. Im shocked at such little response im getting. i dont get it.

for now Im back to the 72 doin what i can that costs nothing. I have 2 weeks left till my Memorial day deadline to drive it to the beach this coming week Monday 17th till Saturday 22nd i will be out of town. so really its only 8 days available to work on it.

Parts list that im going to be needing if anyone has leads on some cheap or freebies:
Horn button
all female 1/2 of seat belts
rear leaf springs
tailgate
carpet

Yep, I'm still watching, just have been having troubles with the account thing. Anyhow, I'm glad that things are going well for you with the motor and tranny.

As for the knocking/ticking sound, I'm not sure. It did that a little before I found the loose rocker nut, which is why I thought that was what the issue was. I really couldn't tell you what else to look for. I'm curious to know what it is.

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

there were like 9 nuts loose at various amounts and a couple that were too tight. one by one i backed em off till it knocked tightened it till it stopped than gave 1/4 turn more while the motor was running on the garage floor. did the whole process again after putting 40 miles driving. but it sounds like its still there again. 2 days ago i added a qt of lucas oil see what this does so far only drove about 5 miles

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

Ok im back from vegas, 2nd day i was gone cops were outside my house trying to set up a tow truck to come tow away my "abandoned vehicle" outside my house because it doesnt have any window stickers and the license plates show that it hasnt been registered since 2008. my roomate told em the situation and he was still a dick and said if its here in the morning its getting towed. My roomate got it towed to some place for storage. I havent transferred the title yet so if it got impounded i wouldnt even had been able to get it out without the previous owner i think
