I dont know why it wouldnt be legal as long as you have running lights and turn signals. I see them down here all the time. Then again there probably is some law that they dont enforce unless they want to do a sobriety check.

i dont know myself. They give tickets for tinted headlights and tail lights because they inhibit the light output. maybe the same for the grill?

Re: Phantom grill legal in california...
Why not ask your local police station and ask them about it.Don`t show them your truck just ask them there not headlight covers and they do aloow plenty of light low beam and high beam and they dont interfere with the marker lights as well....
thanks pat

Re: Phantom grill legal in california...
Anything that impairs the stock headlight is illegal (phantom grille, smoked lenses, even clear lenses 'cause they fog up). It's up to the local authorities to decide whether or not to give you a ticket. I got a ticket for a phantom grille several years ago, so I decided it wasn't worth the headaches. You can agrue about what's legal or not, the bottom line is that you have to evaluate if it's worth it when your sitting on the side of the road giving the police your autograph.
Good Luck. |

Re: Phantom grill legal in california...
I got pulled over by a Local PD years ago for Blue Dots. He had the nerve to tell me that the reason they are illegal is that they hypnotize the driver behind you. That was a good one. Maybe it's true!
