bellcrank stud for z-bar
need some advice, I am in the middle of swapping the engine in the 66, from a 307 to 350. all was well untill I tried to screw in the bellcrank stud for the z-bar into the engine, stripped. what are my options to make this screw in tight, so I never have to worry about the stud coming out. thanks

Helicoil...here is a link:
http://www.helicoil.in/helicoil.htm You can also: 1. Drill & tap to next larger size...cut and weld new threaded end on ball stud to fit new hole size. 2. Infill the hole with a TIG weld, drill and tap to original size. 3. Use some of the epoxy compounds on the ball stud, to securely fasten it into the factory threaded hole in the block. I would go with the Helicoil. I'm not a fan of epoxy/JBweld for things like this.

I'm a fervent advocate for JB Weld, but not for something like a clutch pivot that is going to be exposed to enormous torsional forces over a long period of time. I'd also vote for the Helicoil or welded repair.

On mine I did both... installed the Helicoil and then JB weld on the stud threads... its in there for good.
