First Project: K5 Hunting Blazer

Here is the start of my new project. I am new to the board and wanted to share my progress of this project. Its a '70 K5 Blazer with a stock 283 and 3 speed. Here are some images of what the blazer looked like when I got it.

Very nice! Amazing that living in the rust belt has such an impact on our vehicles! Good to see some more old iron in such good shape!

What are you gonna do about a front bumper?

Yeah its in great shape! Its painted now i just havent posted those pics yet. Also got the 3/4 ton axles under it this past weekend have updates on all that in the near future. But i m not acctually from ur neck of the woods i live in AL.

put that other one on that i sand blasted and painted black.... just got the holes drilled to matchup[ in the front.

you should use 4inch tubing. and make your doors out of 2 inch tubing. you got the tools to do it. it sure beats the hell out of making pirate swords with our shop equipment.

exactly! my 2001 f250 is in worse shape...

Most of these pics are after i had painted the k5. As you can see she is on the lift getting some new axles under her. I still have to put shocks on and run brake lines, which I m not lookin foward to seeing how I ve never done something like that before- (the brake line portion). Also i have to match the rear drive shaft up to the new 3/4 ton axles now any input?

Added info: the axles are from a '78 truck. The rear is a 14BFF and the front is a Corp 10 bolt. The blazer currently has manual brakes and wants to convert over to a power brake setup.
One major thing to consider about this project is that everything is basic low budget build.

That is an absolutely beautiful paint job, well done!

As far as the U joint, you should be able to find something at the parts store, just tell them what driveshaft you have, what axle you have and they should be able to get the right "bastard" u joint for you. Napa has always been great for this in my experience.

To do the brake lines, it shouldn't be that hard for you! Either get a coil of steel tubing or get sections. If you cut your own tubing to length, you'll need a double flare tool. They are 30-100 bucks for the tool kit but well worth it in the long run. If you need to get a power booster and master cylinder, start at the local u-pick and go from there. As far as the master cylinder goes, try to get one from the heaviest truck 3/4 ton or 1 ton, it'll have the most stopping power with a larger piston inside. Same outer casting though.

You would think this would be an easy find but i m having troubles finding the sizes and the Splitter for the 3/4. tried a few differnt places and ended up with" I dont know" Even from the damn store that sold me the master cylinder. haha Any info on the sizes and where to find them would be most helpful.
